When I was buying this quad, I had a few ideas in mind. I wanted a neutral but brown toned quad. The lady there helped me a lot by recommending shades that went with my skin tone and the looks I wanted. I loved Swiss Chocolate as soon as I saw it and it is the first one I picked up. Cranberry was a gift from a friend, I have always wanted that one and it is the one that I use the most.
Cranberry
This is my absolute favourite shade. I adore it so much because it is so pretty and complements my eyes making them look a lot better than they do naturally. If you have brown or blue eyes, I would highly recommend this shade, it brings out the colour beautifully. Cranberry is a shimmer eye shadow and looks stunning in summer as well as the winter. It is a warm burgundy toned, rusty red shade, even though it looks more brown toned in the picture. It builds up so well to create depth. I would just say to be cautious when applying this shade as it can make an almost black eye kind of look if applied without care. To avoid this, I would tone it down a bit with some warmer shades - like the other shades in my palette.
Girlie
This is a mauve-pink shade that is slightly shimmery but mainly matte. Girlie is such an easy shade to wear, especially for people who don't like much pigment in their pinks. It is so subtle, it is great as a shade to wear alone when you don't have time to do a full blended eye shadow look. Girlie is highly pigmented and perfect to wear in the crease of your eye to warm up a look.
All That Shimmers
This shade is a shimmery pink with undertones of gold. I love to blend this shade with others to make a more sophisticated party look. I am yet to find a shade that All That Shimmers doesn't happily pair itself with! This shade is so easy to add into your everyday makeup routine. Although it's not afraid of a sophisticated and more complex look, it looks just as good alone. I feel like this shade is no where near appreciated enough. I have heard many people think it's "just another gold" but it is so much more than that!
Swiss Chocolate
MAC describe this shade as a 'mutted matte brown with red undertones'. I adore this shade because it pairs so well with other shades, especially the Cranberry shade in this quad. Swiss Chocolate is a shade that looks quite plain alone on the eyelid, especially when applied lightly, as it brings out the red undertone. I personally think that it should be used to create depth in the crease of the eye. Due to the fact that it isn't shimmery, it looks great in the V crease of the eye, complementing other light cream or burgundy shades.
I am absolutely in love with this palette. I use it every time I add a touch of eye shadow to my look. MAC is the first high-end eye shadow brand I have used and I can easily say that it is the best quality brand I have used, and the best shades I have seen so far!
Have you been fortunate enough to meet any of these shades yet?
