THE QUAD OF MY LIFE

As a beauty blogger, I have plenty of different eye shadows, some that I use every day and some I don't use at all. In my opinion, eye shadows are the most complementing products of makeup because they look so pretty, especially the glitter shadows. I have two mattes and two shimmers, a perfect balance. I bought this MAC quad in London and I adore the shades I bought. I was extremely late to discovering this quad, in fact I only bought it at the beginning of this year. But now, I honestly don't know what I would do without it!

When I was buying this quad, I had a few ideas in mind. I wanted a neutral but brown toned quad. The lady there helped me a lot by recommending shades that went with my skin tone and the looks I wanted. I loved Swiss Chocolate as soon as I saw it and it is the first one I picked up. Cranberry was a gift from a friend, I have always wanted that one and it is the one that I use the most.

Cranberry
This is my absolute favourite shade. I adore it so much because it is so pretty and complements my eyes making them look a lot better than they do naturally. If you have brown or blue eyes, I would highly recommend this shade, it brings out the colour beautifully. Cranberry is a shimmer eye shadow and looks stunning in summer as well as the winter. It is a warm burgundy toned, rusty red shade, even though it looks more brown toned in the picture. It builds up so well to create depth. I would just say to be cautious when applying this shade as it can make an almost black eye kind of look if applied without care. To avoid this, I would tone it down a bit with some warmer shades - like the other shades in my palette.

Girlie
This is a mauve-pink shade that is slightly shimmery but mainly matte. Girlie is such an easy shade to wear, especially for people who don't like much pigment in their pinks. It is so subtle, it is great as a shade to wear alone when you don't have time to do a full blended eye shadow look. Girlie is highly pigmented and perfect to wear in the crease of your eye to warm up a look.

All That Shimmers
This shade is a shimmery pink with undertones of gold. I love to blend this shade with others to make a more sophisticated party look. I am yet to find a shade that All That Shimmers doesn't happily pair itself with! This shade is so easy to add into your everyday makeup routine. Although it's not afraid of a sophisticated and more complex look, it looks just as good alone. I feel like this shade is no where near appreciated enough. I have heard many people think it's "just another gold" but it is so much more than that!

Swiss Chocolate
MAC describe this shade as a 'mutted matte brown with red undertones'. I adore this shade because it pairs so well with other shades, especially the Cranberry shade in this quad. Swiss Chocolate is a shade that looks quite plain alone on the eyelid, especially when applied lightly, as it brings out the red undertone. I personally think that it should be used to create depth in the crease of the eye. Due to the fact that it isn't shimmery, it looks great in the V crease of the eye, complementing other light cream or burgundy shades.

I am absolutely in love with this palette. I use it every time I add a touch of eye shadow to my look. MAC is the first high-end eye shadow brand I have used and I can easily say that it is the best quality brand I have used, and the best shades I have seen so far!

Have you been fortunate enough to meet any of these shades yet?

TWITTER BLOGGING CHATS

One of my favourite things about blogging is the huge supportive community that comes as a package with it. There are so many bloggers in today's blogsphere, there's always someone to ask for help or advice whether it be at a absurd time in the morning, or half way through the day. Even without meeting people, I know that many people still form great bonds with each other, just over the internet. It is so great to know that we can speak to people from all around the world! The best feeling is when you finally meet these people, you actually get to know them and learn more about them. There are so many lovely bloggers that I would love to meet!

From my experience of blogging, the biggest community is Twitter. Social media is ideal for promoting your blog and meeting bloggers that enjoy the same things as you. There's nothing better than talking to someone who knows your mind inside out. It seems crazy that someone can say exactly what you were going to say, without knowing. It gets me wondering how similar we really are. Twitter talks are my favourite place to be after a long, tedious day at school or work! They are just so relaxing and it's so nice to hear other people's views.

Unfortunately, there are so many Twitter talks that I cannot always keep up with them. I decided, as a way to help myself remember and also as a way to help you guys to be aware of the talks, I would make a post about it. I hope you can find time to join these talks, they really are amazing! There is a talk on everyday, that's what I find incredible...so many people! Find one that you like the sound of and go ahead, try them out! I am sure you will soon become addicted!

Just to let you know, all of the talks are 1 hour long, but if you do find yourself entering half way through, I am sure it wouldn't take too much catching up!

MY NEW WARDROBE STAPLE

I recently went shopping with a friend and I found this authentic, quite funky, over sized shirt that I fell in love with. I wasn't actually looking for anything in particular, it was a kind of 'get out, look around' kind of day, and I didn't actually intend to buy so much. However, as always, I managed to spend a lot more than I would have liked, which I don't regret at all. I wear this top so much now and I absolutely love it!

My friend Lauren that I went on my adventures with is quite extravagant and she inspires me to express myself through what I wear. I used to stick to the really boring, mainstream kind of things - a typical pair of skinny blue jeans and a small fitting top - but I definitely think that this shirt is more me. I feel that the unusual pattern adds a sense of diversity to the outfit, and the shapes are just overall bazar, but I love it! I wear it a lot because it is insanely comfortable and it makes me feel calm to wear something loose for once. I usually wear quite fitted tops, so this is a tad bit out of my range when it comes to clothes. But I like that my style is changing. The material is quite light and breathable but it's not at all see through which is always a good trait with clothes!

Carrying on with the idea of being mainstream, I am not a typical teenager who spend £20 on a top anymore. Actually, this shirt was from a thrift shop, called Re-Pyscho which many people actually fail to believe. You're probably wondering why I would shop in a charity shop when I am only 16? Well I must admit that it is partly down to Lauren's influence - she always shops in charity shops. But I also think that it's just how I like to style myself to be different and to find my own personal dress sense. I have got to admit that I have definitely turned into a bit of a bargain hunter recently, and charity shops are ideal. As well as being a good samaritan, you get to find cute little tops just like this one, at a price cheap as chips. What more could you want?

I think that I will continue to shop in charity shops for a while. Especially during student life and when I go to uni, the cheaper, the better. I am not too keen with today's fashion and I would happily skip back to the late 20th century's fashion. Charity shops are often about 10 times cheaper than other high street stores as well, which is always a bonus. I do love charity shops!

Do you shop in charity shops? Would you ever consider doing so?
